Unlocking the Key to Lasting Beauty: The Role of Preventative Skin Care

Unlocking the Key to Lasting Beauty: The Role of Preventative Skin Care

What is on YOUR skincare checklist?

What exactly is beautiful skin? From skin evenness to improved texture, the idea of beautiful skin is unique and personal to each individual. At CRU-MM, we understand and respect that everyone has different needs, and we embrace the skin's beauty at every stage. However, we are purveyors of preventative care; it is the cornerstone of who we are. Taking care of your skin EVERYDAY is the foundation to aging gracefully. Here's more on our approach.

Daily Skincare + Antioxidants

At CRU-MM, we champion using antioxidants in our daily skincare routines and professional treatments. Free radicals are the culprits behind skin aging and damage cell membrane structures, lipids, proteins, and DNA. Our body's defense against free radicals weakens as we age, leading to accelerated aging. Antioxidants, such as Vitamins A, C, and E, green tea, silymarin, resveratrol, pomegranate, and niacinamide, shield us from these damaging effects.  We believe that antioxidants should be a fundamental part of your skincare routine and diet, as they are crucial for your skin's health and play a vital role in preventative care.

Sun Protection

We believe in sun protection.  Protecting your skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet (UV) radiation, primarily from the sun, is one of the most essential steps in your skincare routine. Wearing sunscreen helps to preserve your skin tone, reduces premature aging, and prevents skin cancer. UV filters are the chemical ingredients in sunscreen that protect our skin from UV light. The two main types of UV light are UVA and UVB rays. It's crucial to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen, opt for hats and clothing that shield skin from UV exposure, minimize sun exposure during peak UV hours (10 am to 4 pm), and wear UV-blocking sunglasses to protect the eyes and surrounding delicate skin.

Balanced Living

At CRU-MM, we advocate for balanced living as a key to healthy skin. Lifestyle factors like diet, sleep, and stress can significantly impact the skin. These factors can compromise the skin's barrier function and accelerate aging.  Chronic stress, in particular, can harm skin health, triggering a stress response from the central nervous system and resident skin cells. Stress can exacerbate certain neuroinflammatory conditions, such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, contact dermatitis, alopecia areata, itch, and erythema. Adjusting these lifestyle factors can enhance dermal health and lead to visible improvements in your skin's appearance.

Facials, Dermatology, Listening & More

At CRU-MM, we believe in the power of facials, dermatological care, and science while taking an individualized approach to meeting your skincare needs. We understand that one size does not fit all, so we listen to your unique needs, combine them with our advanced knowledge, and develop recommendations/resources that help you achieve your skincare goals. This personalized approach is our recipe for success, and we're passionate about what we do!
